Alan Crowe, who is an entertainment promoter, consultant, and World War Two re-enactor, wants to get in touch with members of ENSA or surviving members of their family.

"It is in relation to a major ENSA project that I am currently researching," said Alan.

"During the Second World War ENSA artistes kept the nation's morale high with concerts on the home front and overseas."

Alan can be contacted on 07782166342 or alan60s@live.com by email.

"I don't have any information on any local ENSA members, which is why I am looking to make contact if there are any," he said.

Established in 1939, ENSA staged shows for military personnel in all theatres of war. Many famous stars of the time performed, and many big names of the future cut their showbiz teeth in ENSA shows.

Among stars who performed for ENSA were the likes of Arthur Askey, Gracie Fields, Vera Lynn, George Formby, Tommy Cooper, Dick Emery, Frankie Howerd, and Joyce Grenfell. The last ENSA performance was in 1946.
