The stage is set for chart-toppers at T-Live festival

The stage was today being set for McFly's appearance in Telford.

About 3,500 people will attend the festival to see chart-topping acts such as McFly and Stooshe take to the stage. But there are still 3,000 tickets for sale and organisers today said tickets will be available on the door on Saturday.

The arena has a capacity of 6,000 but the council expects it to be just over half-full.

Emily Knightley, a spokeswoman for Telford & Wrekin Council, said: "We have sold nearly 3,000 tickets for T-Live. The capacity for the arena is 6,000 but we didn't have a target for the event as this is the first year we have held it and we always expected that we would have to build up the reputation of T-Live and events in the arena gradually. We are very pleased at our sales so far."

Telford & Wrekin Council leader Kuldip Sahota said: "There is a real sense of anticipation ahead of T-Live and it is very exciting to see the stage going up in the Town Park today. Saturday promises to be a fantastic event. After the huge success of T-Party last weekend, I'm sure everyone attending will have a great time."

T-Live is part of the T-Party festival, and along with the 8,000 tickets sold for last week's event in the Town Park, Miss Knightley said if the council sells 3,500 tickets the council should break even for across the two dates.
