Age does not take shine off old stars

Oh Boy! Non stop 60s

at Shrewsbury - Music Hall

It was sit back, close your eyes time and listen to the sounds of the 60s. Trying to remember what clothes and hairstyle I wore was difficult enough, but the memories soon flooded back from a wonderful era.

Age may have not been kind to some of these performers but it certainly hasn't diminished the quality of their acts.

In the first half of the show we were treated to excellent sets by Chris Farlowe, PJ Proby and Vanity Fair who also acted as a backing group to all artists.

The second half featured the unforgettable voice of Mike Pender from The Searchers and, although in his late 60s, he's still in great shape. More importantly it was clear that his voice maintains all of its grit and powerful range.

The evening finished with a guest appearance from Brian Poole giving an energetic version of Twist and Shout and Do You Love Me.

Highlights of the evening are too many to mention but the Chris Farlowe version of Handbags & Glad Rags, Mike Pender's Needles & Pins, and Brian Poole's Jimmy Brown were worth the admission price alone.

Finishing with all the artists on stage for an encore of The Games People Play, this certainly was an evening to remember from the original stars of the 60s.
