Girls AloudGirls Aloud today announced a brand new arena tour for May 2009 which includes a concert at Birmingham NIA.

It comes as the girls celebrate their new album Out of Control hitting No. 1.

Girls Aloud play at Birmingham NIA on Wednesday May 20, 2009.

Singer Nadine Coyle said: "We can't wait to get back out on the road to see our fans and play the music that we love from the past albums and especially playing the new songs in those arenas next year, we look forward to seeing you all there."

The lead hit single, The Promise sees the girls explore the lush sounds of the 60s. It's a sound that has already proved to be a winner in the charts and is already one of the most played Girls Aloud songs on radio. And the 60s drive-in movie themed video has been inescapable if you have been anywhere near a music channel.

"For everything else that goes on around us, singing pop songs is what we do," says group member Sarah Harding. "This is why we got into music in the first place. We feel like veterans now coming back with a sixth album but in some ways we learnt so much making this album and feel like we've still got a long way to go."

The Out Of Control Tour comes hot on the heels of Girls Aloud's third arena tour and a critically-acclaimed performance at the V Festival.

Girls Aloud were created in 2002 by the ITV1 talent show Popstars: The Rivals. The group consists of Cheryl Cole, Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Sarah Harding, and has scored a record-breaking 19 consecutive Top 10 singles, including four number ones, and six albums, including two number ones.
