Ultravox bringing Vienna to Brum

Eighties synth pop legends Ultravox are reforming to tour the UK in April 2009 after an absence of 20 years, including a gig at Birmingham Symphony Hall.

The tour will feature Ultravox's original 1980s line up of Midge Ure (pictured), Chris Cross, Warren Cann and Billy Currie.

They will perform 14 shows across the UK, including the Birmingham gig on Friday April 17.

Fans can look forward to the band performing material from all their albums, including Vienna, Rage in Eden and Quartet.

Ultravox were one of one of the primary exponents of the British electronic pop music movement of the early 1980s, and apperared with Midge Ure at the Live Aid concert at Wembley in 1985.

Ure said:"Over the years we have all been caught up with a number of individual projects. When Billy and me were approached by Absolute Radio to perform an acoustic set at their inaugural launch in October at Abbey Road Studios, we took up the offer.

"We were overwhelmed by the response of our fans, which confirmed within the band that perhaps the time was right to re-form."

To tie in with the tour, EMI will release a number of remastered albums plus a Best Of collection.
