The stars are out for gigs galore

A whole host of new concerts have been announced for the region's major venues, including gigs by Beyonce, Kate Perry, Saxon and Joe Bonamassa, an extra Eagles date and a bonus treat for High School Musical fans.

Beyoncé's I Am… World Tour hits Europe next spring, landing at Birmingham's NIA on Saturday May 23. Tickets are £49.50 plus booking fees. Click here for more information.

World-renowned designer, director and photographer Thierry Mugler will work as creative advisor and costume designer on Beyoncé's tour. The new concert production promises to showcase the music and film superstar, along with her all-female band, performing musical hits, classics, and surprises in a newly-created high-tech state-of-the-art concert environment.

Controversial I Kissed a Girl singer Katy Perry will appear at Birmingham O2 Academy on Sunday June 7. Tickets are £13.50 plus booking fees. Buy Katy Perry tickets here.

Katy made such a powerful impression on MTV that they duly invited her to host this year's MTV Europe Music Awards in Liverpool. She treated everyone to a colourful and flamboyant performance and won the award for Best New Act to boot.

More recently, Katy has been nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the 2009 Grammys.

Heavy metal stalwarts Saxon are making a quick return to Wolverhampton hot on the heels of their fantastically well-received support slot with Motorhead at the Civic Hall last month.

SaxonSaxon will be returning to the Wulfrun Hall stage on Tuesday May 5 as part of their biggest tour since the early 80s, in support of their forthcoming Into The Labyrinth album. Tickets are £16.50

The band are riding the crest of a wave after the release of the critically acclaimed The Inner Sanctum, album and their appearance on Harvey Goldsmith's Get Your Act Together programme on Channel 4, as well as at this year's Download festival.

Joe Bonamassa is a the blue rock guitarist who is fast attaining superstar status, a fact underlined by the fact he is headlining the Royal Albert Hall next May.

Bonamassa kicked off 2007 with the honor of being named Best Blues Guitarist by Guitar Player Magazine's readership in their annual Reader's Choice Awards, and performed a rapturously received set at the Music Live event at Birmingham NEC last month.

Meanwhile, The Eagles have added an extra date at Birmingham NIA due to overwhelming demand for tickets.

The American country rockers will now play in Birmingham on Tuesday July 7 and the new date Wednesday July 8. Tickets are priced from £50 to £100, subject to booking feea.

Following on from their universally acclaimed No 1 album Long Road Out Of Eden, the band – Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit - will be performing a wide range of material from past and present, including Hotel California, Desperado and Take It To The Limit.

Back in January, High School Musical – The Ice Tour was a complete sell-out throughout the UK, and fans were delighted when The NIA announced it's return from January 8 - 11 next year.

Now fans are set for an extra treat with a special bonus feature brand new for this tour - behind-the-scenes High School Musical 3: Senior Year footage and a get-up-and-dance sing-a-long feature.

The audience will be treated to an interactive experience as movie and Ice Tour choreographer Chucky Kapow provides a High School Musical 3: Senior Year dance lesson from a giant screen. Skaters will demonstrate the hot new steps on ice to the new movie's anthem song – and audiences will be rocked out of their seats!

Ice Tour producer Nicole Feld says: "This is an unprecedented opportunity for High School Musical fans to enjoy a one-of-a-kind, live experience that combines all of the favourite moments from High School Musical 1 and 2 with the new music and choreography of High School Musical 3: Senior Year."
