The Killers and Oasis will headline this year's V Festival on the Shropshire/Staffordshire border, it was announced today.

The Specials, Fatboy Slim, Razorlight, Snow Patrol, Keane, Elbow and newcomers The Ting Tings, MGMT, Pendulum and Lady Ga Ga will also be lighting up the festival's sites.

Pete Doherty will take to the Virgin Media Union stage.

The festival, which is sponsored by Virgin Media, will again be taking place at Weston Park, near Shifnal, with a second site at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, Essex.

The event, which is now in its 14th year, will take place over August 22 and 23.

Festival director, Bob Angus, said: "We're genuinely thrilled to have such an eclectic line-up this year.

"Our headliners, The Killers and Oasis, are two of the biggest acts in music today and with them being joined by some really exuberant newcomers, this summer's V Festival is set to give festival fans something to shout about."

Others in the line-up include: James, Lily Allen, The Enemy, The Script, Biff Clyro, Paolo Nutini, Katy Perry, The Wombats, James Morrison, The Streets, Dizzee Rascal, Happy Mondays, Seasick Steve, Ocean Colour Scene and The Saturdays.

Last year's event saw performances from headliners Muse and The Verve, as well as from The Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy.

Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday. Ticket prices are £152.50 for a weekend pass with camping, £132.50 for a weekend pass without camping, and £73.50 for day tickets.

The organisers of V are urging fans to not buy tickets from unofficial outlets. Those who want to get their hands on tickets should go make www.vfestival.com - where all official outlets are detailed - their first port of call on Friday morning.
