Beatlemania is set to hit Bridgnorth as a dozen bands come together for a performance of songs from the White Album on Saturday.

The gig at the town's Theatre on the Steps features bands of all ages interpreting the ground-breaking album in a range of musical styles.

The show will cover the full playlist from the album which was 40 years old last year.

Alan Muscat, of Design Jazz, sponsors of the event, said: "Rehearsals have gone well and it is fantastic to see older musicians helping out younger performers who are beginning to appreciate the legacy that The Beatles left within this album.

"The bands will be playing old favourites such as Back in the USSR, While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da along with some of the less well-known classics like Dear Prudence."

The event, which is in aid of The Bridge, a charity dry bar for young people in the town, starts at 7.30pm.

Tickets are available from the Tourist Information Office or Theatre on The Steps.
