Alternative rockers Placebo will play the LG Arena, Birmingham on Tuesday, December 8.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday May 29, priced £25 plus booking and transaction fees.

With a thirteen year history that takes in five studio albums, ten million album sales, breakdowns, clean ups and more than 13 million record sales, Placebo are about to release their sixth album, Battle For The Sun.

Recorded over three months by producer Dave Bottrill in his Toronto studio (chosen by the band largely because of his work with Tool) and mixed in London by My Bloody Valentine, Smashing Pumpkins and Nine Inch Nails supremo Alan Moulder, Battle For The Sun will be is released on June 8.

It has already earned pre-release critical acclaim, with Kerrang! hailing is as "among some of Placebo's finest work" and Mojo calling it "Placebo at their breathtaking, irresistible best".

Aside from a six-date UK and Irish tour, Placebo are also set to return to the main stage of the Reading/Leeds Festivals this August, and make a headline appearance at Rockness Festival in Scotland in June.
