Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band will perform at Worthen Village Hall, near Shrewsbury, at 8pm on Saturday.

The band's two big albums in the 1960s were both live recordings. Hand Clappin', Foot Stompin', Funky Butt Live was in the album charts for 48 weeks and was only out-sold by The Sound of Music and Bridge Over Troubled Water.

Geno has proved popular throughout the years, with Dexy's Midnight Runners even writing the 1980s hit Geno about him.

Organisers described him as a "legendary live performer, a truly great front man who really understands how to get a place rocking".

The band will be supported by Smoke Like a Fish, based in Mid Wales.

Admission is by advance ticket only, priced at £15.

The gig will start at 8pm and there will be a raffle in aid of the Welsh Air Ambulance and a licensed bar.

Tickets are available from www.skiddle.com/tickets and can also be bought from Music Bros at 12 Roushill Bank in Shrewsbury or by calling (01743) 240231, while information is available from (01938) 561616.
