Nova Scotian artist David Myles will perform at the town's Quarry at 6.30pm ahead of Jools and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra.

Award-winning singer-songwriter Mr Myles' music is described as "an irresistible blend of creativity, vocal versatility and musical dexterity, a powerful and stylish blend of jazz, blues, gospel, pop and folk influences".

Organisers say they are delighted to have lined him up for the event, as tickets continue to sell with people looking forward to seeing Jools perform in the town again.

They say it will be a night of "pure boogie-woogie" in a concert sponsored by the Shropshire Star.

And there is good news for groups planning to go along after organisers said there will be a 10 per cent discount for those buying 10 or more tickets in one go.

It follows the huge success of his shows in 2005 and 2007. Jools has previously said: "Being able to perform is a great thing and I am thrilled to be coming back to The Quarry in Shrewsbury.

"It is such a magical feeling being in an amazing location, creating fantastic music and feeling the crowd join in."

Gates open at 5pm.
