Jazz septet to play historic pub
The Old Lion Tap on Shrewsbury's Wyle Cop will play host to an exciting new septet on Sunday, October 18, for a sumptuous evening of jazz.
Led by trumpeter Jim Mould, Westcoastin' celebrates the golden era of the 1950s Californian jazz scene when musicians such as Chet Baker, Gerry Mulligan Art Pepper, Shorty Rogers and Marty Paich took crowds by storm at Hermosa beach and the Haig club in Los Angeles.
The other members of Westcoatin' are saxophonists Julian Dean, Ed Reece and John Williams, along with pianist Stuart Goodhew, double bassist Chris Jones and drummer Andy Richards.
The historic Old Lion Tap on Wyle Cop makes for a wonderfully characterful backdrop to this evening of lively, melodic, accoustic music.
The performance starts at 8pm and admission is priced at £5 (£3 for students/unwaged).
