Editors make sensational headline
Brummie band Editors are reaching the peak of their powers with a stunning number one album to their name. They thrilled a sell out crowd at Wolverhampton Civic Hall.

Those of us with long enough memories can easily remember the derision which greeted Editors when they burst onto the scene. Dubbed Joy Division copyists, they were panned for their lack of originality.
How times change. Last night, they thrilled a capacity crowd at Wolverhampton's Civic Hall with a set of stunningly creative songs, many of which were culled from their new, number one album In This Light and on This Evening.
In a short space of time, Editors have become a heavyweight act, punching above their weight and earning a place among rock's gliteratti. In This Light... represents a huge step forward from their debut, The Back Room, and the number one follow-up, An End Has A Start.
Their career seems to be following a similar arc to that of Radiohead, who enjoyed commercial appeal before immersing themselves in new sounds and musical textures.
Last night, the four-piece were breathtaking in their brilliance, wooing the crowd with a set comprising plenty of new songs, in addition to favourites like Racing Rats, Smokers.. and An End Has A Start.
The heavily synthesised and industrial nature of their new songs struck a chord with fans, while elements of their trademark dark disco remained.
Editors have established themselves among rock's premier artists and much larger venues surely beckon.
