Better known to scores of budding county pianists as piano teacher Gerald Watkiss, Masters was a successful singer-songwriter in the 1980s, having trained at the Royal Academy of Music.

He was also a touring member of Sugar Baby Love stars The Rubettes. During his career, Masters had success as a solo artist and songwriter having been signed to Sony and Island Records at various stages.

Rhys Jones, managing director of Gerald Masters Productions, has been championing his friend's work ever since his death. He said: "Recently, at the request of Gerald's widow Angela, I began cataloguing this wealth of unreleased material.

"For those who really love the sound of this era, it's going to be a real treat to hear brand new authentic 80s music and relive the best memories of the time and create some new memories too."

Mr Jones, from Shrewsbury, said he got to know Masters from the age of eight when he went for piano lessons in Baschurch.
