Sixties fans are invited to brush off their beehive hairdos and grab their dancing shoes with a special two-for-one ticket offer to see the sing-along show Hairspray at Ludlow Assembly Rooms on Friday.

The show, which is based on the 2007 film starring John Travolta, will be in full swing from 7.30pm. Sing-A-Long-A Hairspray has been described by critics as a wild, noisy, fun-filled experience.

Marketing manager Dido Blench said: "The 'sing-a-long-a' phenomenon began in 1999, with the original show, Sing-a-long-a Sound of Music becoming a hit all around the world. It continues to tour the UK, playing to thousands of people, and plays in central London regularly."

She added" "Building on the success of the original shows, Sing-A-Long-A Hairspray uses the same techniques to ensure full audience participation: a live host, fancy dress competition, free goody bags, lyrics on screen and dancing in the aisles.

It's something you simply cannot do in a West End theatre."

Producer Ben Freedman said: "It has filled a gap for communal singing that just isn't available anywhere else these days. People want to get toge- ther and join in a group experience and we provide that. Add to that the fact that it's fantastic fun and you have a winning formula. We expect Sing-A-Long-A Hairspray to be equally popular."

Tickets cost £15 and people can buy one and get one free. To book, call (01584) 878141.
