Thousands of festival goers are expected to descend on Oswestry this weekend for the first Osfest event.

Organisers said about 5,000 could attend the event at the Park Hall Showground tomorrow and Sunday.

Headliners Lemar, Goldie Lookin' Chain, The Holloways, Reverend and the Makers, Booty Luv and Spear of Destiny, will play along with tribute and dance acts and a host of local talent.

Event manager Carly Jackson said there would be about 40 acts on three different stages over the weekend.

Latest weather forecasts say tomorrow's rain should blow away quickly making way for a better afternoon and evening followed by a sunny Sunday.

One Oswestry band is hoping its appearance at OsFest will help push it into the top 100 on the music charts.

Shameless Faith is launching a four-track EP – Shine On – on iTunes from Monday, the day after its appearance at the festival. Drummer Rob Evans said: "We would love to see if we can get in the top 100 on the week of release. It would put us, but more importantly the Shropshire music scene, on the map."

Meanwhile the drummer of the Kayas, Tomos Jarvis, 20, will be sporting a new, top-of-the-range drum kit at the festival.
