A Shropshire teenager will be performing at the O2 Arena in London after reaching the finals of a national music competition.

Daniel Crossley, of Telford, is in the running for a £30,000 recording contract after impressing judges in previous rounds.

The 14-year-old, from Madeley, is a previous winner of Telford's Got Talent and is looking to build on his success at the Open Mic UK grand final in January next year.

Open Mic UK is a competition which include singers, singer songwriters, and rappers from all across Britain.

The final will be held at the 02 Arena in London and the budding pop star cannot wait to get back on the stage.

He said: "I've managed to get through two preliminary rounds and have beat off some tough competition, I'm really excited about going down there and performing again."

There will be £50,000 worth of prizes up for grabs in the final including vocal coaching, clothing, and equipment.

The winning act from across age categories under-18, 18 to 25, and over-25 will be offered a management and recording contract with up to £30,000 investment to release their single.

Daniel said it was a great feeling to have his friends and family supporting him all the way.

The Midland final was held at the Bedford Corn Exchange last Sunday and included Radio 1 DJ Ras Kwame as one of the judges. They said "Dan put in a great performance."
