A multi-award winning star of world music who starred on Later with Jools Holland is planning a one-off West Midlands gig.

Raghu Dixit will headline The Library, in Birmingham, on August 3 to promote his new single Hey Bhagwan/I'm in Mumbai.

He has already thrilled audiences across the UK this summer, following prestigious slots at Glastonbury and Latitude festivals, and performances at Rhythms of the World and Cambridge Big Weekend.

Dixit was the Songlines Music Awards 2011 Best Newcomer winner and was also the highest selling non-film music artist in India in 2009, an indication of his huge popularity in the country where Bollywood is king.

His debut album, Antaragni – The Fire Within, reached number 4 on the Official UK World Music Chart in May 2011.

His sound mixes Indian traditional music with folk rock and is dominated by his soaring voice.

He created a huge buzz following an appearance on BBC's Later with Jools Holland, which resulted in the performed song reaching number 2 on the UK iTunes World Music Chart.
