Fans are being urged to snap up tickets for a major music festival planned for Shropshire this weekend.

The inaugural Shrewsbury Fields Forever will be staged at the County Showground on Saturday and Sunday, featuring five arenas of top class music, charity events, a funfair and more.

Big names including Saturday night headliners The Charlatans and Sunday's main act Zane Lowe.

They will be performing alongside Radio 1 DJ Kissy Sell Out, Krafty Kuts, Utah Saints, The Sunshine Underground, Fenech Soler, Friends Electric, The Taste and a host of local bands and DJs.

A DJ set by Pendulum featuring MC Verse will replace Chase and Status, who had to withdraw from the event at the last minute due to a family illness.

A charity village including Super Zorbs, a gladiator ring and sumo wrestling, and a silent disco will raise money for local causes. Some of the biggest fun fair rides seen in Shrewsbury, a camping area, traders, food and drink and a party on the River Severn's Sabrina Boat, will make the festival a fun-filled event.

Festival organiser Dene Edwards, said: "This is one of the best music line-ups at a single event that Shropshire has seen.

"Whether people want to come just for the day or make a weekend of it and camp with their friends – it's going to be a great party and a fantastic way to end the festival season. And of course we are hoping for good weather. At this stage we haven't ordered rain."

Tickets are still available through the website and information about the various options for adults and children, whole families or groups, day or weekend, with or without camping can be found at: www.shrewsburyfieldsforever.com
