Revellers from around the UK were arriving in Shrewsbury for the event, which has become a firm favourite among fans of roots, acoustic and folk music.

This year's event features an all-star line-up, with performers like KT Tunstall, Richard Thompson, Kate Rusby and Show of Hands topping the bill.

And the event will also bring a huge boost to local shops, restaurants, hotels and bars with an estimated £3 million pouring into the local economy.

Festival spokeswoman Jo Cunningham said this year's event had already broken box office records and was set to be the biggest and best yet.

She said tickets had sold out in record time and fans could look forward to the strongest line-up of talent yet assembled for the festival.

Mrs Cunningham said: "Work has been going on throughout the week at the site and it looks in amazing condition.

"Each year, we ask festival goers to make recommendations to us on how we can improve and we take as many of those thoughts on board as we can.

"We're looking forward to an amazing weekend. We've got an incredibly strong line-up and we've also got the site in brilliant condition."

A number of local performers will also take to the stage.
