The four-day music extravaganza will return to the West Mid Showground over the August bank holiday weekend.

Organisers are predicting a year of bumper attendances with all day tickets for the event already sold out.

Meanwhile more than 80 per cent of weekend tickets have also been snapped up.

Jo Cunningham, spokeswomen for the event, said: "With just over two-and-a-half months to go we are anticipating a sell-out crowd."

The last two years have seen exceptional demand for the festival, with tickets selling out as far ahead as May and April respectively.

Jo said: "Last year surprised us, but a lot of people choose to stay in Britain last year for the Olympics and the Jubilee."

A host of talent has been lined up to appear at this year's festival – including the all-female Canadian folk band The Be Good Tanyas.

The Vancouver-based trio of Frazey Ford, Trish Klein and Samantha Parton play a mix of deep country, early American folk, old time blues and gospel music.

Meanwhile, other acts include the only UK appearance by American band The Carolina Chocolate Drops and a joint performance from the festival's two patrons the Oysterband's John Jones and Steve Knightley who is from Show of Hands.

Two more exclusives to Shrewsbury are Bright Phoebus sings Tom Waits and a very special Heidi Talbot & guests concert.

Organisers have also said this year's festival will benefit from more showers and increased venue space.

Two-hundred extra seats have been added to the main stage two marquee.

There will also be singalongs, sessions, workshops, tuneworks, the children's festival, the youth festival, free buses into Shrewsbury town centre and real ale on tap.
