It'll be hot among the hostas when Britain's brightest and brassiest band return to Shropshire to headline Shrewsbury Flower Show.

Folk supergroup Bellowhead will be in Shrewsbury

The band will be filling the town's Quarry Park with an eclectic fusion of jazz, classical, world and folk music. They will play tonight and tomorrow.

Since their formation in 2004, Bellowhead have released four albums, won a glut of awards, headlined a string of sell-out tours and dazzled fans with a series of thunderous festival appearances.

They've transported folk music into hitherto unknown territory, introducing a whole new audience with their energetic live performances.

Their third album, Hedonism, for instance, was the highest-selling independently released traditional folk album of all time and their highly acclaimed new album Broadside entered the UK album charts at number 16.

Donna Hamer, Chair of the Shropshire Horticultural Society, said: "Live music is a new addition to Shrewsbury Flower Show. We are delighted to invite Bellowhead to entertain us at the 2013 show, which promises to be bigger and better than ever."

Band members Pete Flood and Brendan Kelly have enjoyed their years with the band, which was formed in 2004 by John Spiers and Jon Boden.

Pete said:"Most bands go through a lot of changes; Bellowhead have had two people leave in 10 years, which says something about the cohesion of the band, we all get on brilliantly and have a great time. We genuinely enjoy what we do."
