For his semi-detached house in Whittington, near Oswestry, is now shared with Rad Radio, an internet station run by Mr Williamson and his daughter, Sarah Coburn.

The station, which plays music from extreme rock to Irish folk – but definitely not pop – has listeners across the globe.

It has acquired such a following that next year it will host a three-day festival in Mid Wales, the latest string to the bow of the father and daughter music business.

Mr Williamson, 57, is the bassist for bands Anubis and Phobis, while Sarah, 38, is the singer/songwriter for Anubis.

They both present shows for the radio station, EKR, an offshoot of Radio Caroline, and Pete also produces and runs a record label, Flying V.

Pete said: "Rad Radio is a fully licensed and registered online radio station and we are delighted with the response we are getting. Our music is played in some incredible places.

"We know we have listeners in China when they can tune in and our music is also placed in a rock cafe somewhere in Columbia which is just bizarre."

"We would love to have more listeners in the Shropshire and Mid Wales area.

"We play a wide range of music – except rap and out-and-out pop. Importantly we want to play music from new, unsigned acts who most of all need radio exposure."

"We have a great range of guest DJs. What is so wonderful about online radio is that DJs don't have to go into a radio station but can present from home."

Rad Fest will be held from May 2 to 4 at Penmaenau Farm, Builth Wells, next to the Royal Welsh showground. There will be more than 40 bands, including headliners, Cancer and The Shanklin Freakshow, Norwegian favourites Hollow as well as MURP as seen on America's Got Talent. Circus of Horror's Hannibal Helmurto and magician Rob Chapman will also make appearances. More information is available from www.rad-fest.co.uk
