Shropshire garden shows beauty of Autumn

Published

Beautiful scenes like this one greeted youngsters who visited a beauty spot to embrace all things autumn.

The Wild About Harvest event was held at Dorothy Clive Garden over the weekend, allowing children to spot wildlife, take part in bark and leaf rubbing, apple bobbing and leaf collages.

Julia Roberts, marketing officer for the charity garden in Willoughbridge, near Market Drayton, said:

"It is a new thing for us being open for weekends in October this year so it has been really good.

"The children who came along to the event learnt about all the educational aspects of autumn – the leaves, the changing colours and those sorts of things."

Ms Roberts said the garden was enjoying a prolonged autumn with stunning colours at the moment and volunteers were looking forward to being open throughout the winter.

She said: "We launched our winter garden last year which will be at its best over the rest of the year now so we are open every weekend until March.

"It is looking really beautiful as all the trees are changing."

While it hasn't yet been confirmed, the garden could play host to a winter woodland event next year.
