Preparations are being finalised for Ellesmere Food and Drink Festival which is celebrating its 10th year.

Visitors to the event this Saturday and Sunday will be able to choose from a selection of food and drink from around the world.

It will feature fruit, vegetables, cheeses, meat products, ice cream, wines, beers, and homemade cakes and preserves.

The free event will be held in the town hall and market hall from 10am until 4pm on both days.

Organisers say it will coincide with Father's Day, enabling families to come together and enjoy the food, drink and events in and around the Ellesmere area.

Organiser Lincoln McMullan, who is also a member of Ellesmere Chamber of Trade and Commerce, said he was looking forward to another successful event.

"I would encourage people to come hungry, pull up a chair, try the different food, and wash it down with a drink of wine, beer or cider," he said.

"We have a lot of other festivals and we have so much good, local, fresh produce here that we need to show off.

"I think nowadays everyone is conscious about where their food comes from. You know when you come here, you meet the producers face-to-face, you know it's fresh, good, honest food.

"We are running out of room but we like to keep everything undercover, so even if it does rain it won't ruin the day.

"Ellesmere is already a fantastic place to visit for its independent shops, friendly people and idyllic scenery. It's also an ideal location to feed the whole family this Father's Day."
