The organisers of the Bridgnorth Jazz Festival that took place over the weekend organisers said it was the best ever since it was launched 14 years ago.

Around 210 people enjoyed the first two nights and many more flocked to The Swan at Knowlesands for the finale show featuring Alex Welsh in tribute to Roy Williams.

Tim Lord, of Jazz in Bridgnorth, says: "The festival was the best ever. We had more people watching than ever before. Around 90 came on Friday for the Ella Fitzgerald and the Louis Armstrong night, 120 on Saturday and we had a huge audience on Sunday.

"We will be doing it again next year. We want to thank the town council and the Black Boy Inn for their support."

The programme had a Jazz Trail with 12 different acts performing at five venues, the White Lion, Tanners Wine Merchants, Black Boy Inn, Bamboo and the Falcon Hotel.

Musicians on the festival programme included string quartet Andy McKenzie, Will Barnes, Erika Lyons and Sarah Barnwell, clarinet and piano duo Julian Strangle and Craig Milverton and Alan Barnes and Liam Dunachie on saxophone and piano.
