Truly relaxing spa breaks are available at one of Leicestershire’s most desired country house locations – Sketchley Grange Hotel & Spa.

Positioned on the borders of Leicestershire and Warwickshire, it is just minutes away from the M69.

Offered a one-night stay there for two with dinner and a spa treatment each, myself and my partner Rob were to have a superb time visiting this four-star hotel.

Afterwards what really stuck in our minds was just how impressed we were with the spa treatment prices (I have been to other spas that charge a lot more), as well as the excellent dinner in the restaurant we enjoyed. This again was really good value for money.

We were also both delighted with our treatments – a 25-minute manicure (£24.50) for me and a 25-minute back massage (£28) for my other half.

We were given a contemporary junior suite for our overnight stay. This was impressive and very comfortable. It had large picture windows overlooking the grounds as well as a king-size bed with crisp white linens, a lounge area, desk, dressing table and en-suite bathroom. Sketchley Grange Hotel & Spa has even more spacious contemporary suites available!

Romans Health and Leisure Club facilities on site include a 17-metre swimming pool, Jacuzzi, Whirlpool spa, cedar wood sauna, aromatic steam room and an air conditioned state-of-the-art gym. You get full access to these when staying at the hotel.

The hotel offers a vast range of spa treatments. Also on offer are spa day packages from £35 to £89 per person and overnight packages from £79 (based on two people sharing a room) to £209 per person. The £209 package offer is very competitively priced. It includes use of the facilities for three days, two nights accommodation, a three course evening meal in the restaurant both nights, breakfast both mornings, three 25-minute spa treatments or a one hour treatment. Wow!

During the upcoming months Sketchley Grange Hotel & Spa will be upgrading some of its facilities.

All the staff were warm and welcoming throughout our stay.

After checking in, we began our visit with a faultless three course meal in the restaurant, which costs £18.95 for two courses or three courses at £22.95. Starter examples are crayfish and crab with cucumber salad guacamole with lemon infused olive oil and garlic mushrooms in a cream herb sauce on toasted ciabatta. Main course examples are lamb rump with sautèed potatoes, garlic cherry tomatoes and a pesto rocket salad. Desserts include baked vanilla cheesecake with wild berry sauce. and Sticky Toffee pudding with strawberry ice cream. Our meal was all absolutely delicious. While dining there was live vocalist in the adjoining bar singing Sinatra classics (lovely). All the diners’ heads were down, obviously enjoying their food.

The next morning, after a full English breakfast, we went next door for our spa treatments. After a pleasant welcome we were given our robes and locker keys before changing and meeting up at the spa’s cafe area. Rob then had a thoroughly enjoyable back massage while I had a relaxing mini manicure. We were both very satisfied with the service. Then we used the spa facilities - again very relaxing - before heading home.

Sketchley Grange is also an ideal venue for weddings, celebrations, business conferences and meetings and is a great base from which to explore the local area.

With picturesque rolling countryside, thriving cities, fascinating history and culture and plenty of tourist attractions, Leicestershire has lots to do to fill your day.
