Quick march to music festival
An army regiment is preparing to rock out at their second music festival next month.
The 1st Battalion The Royal Irish Regiment, based in Tern Hill, near Market Drayton, held the first Warriors Rock music concert and family fun day last year.
This year the event will be held on August 19 from 1.30pm until 11.45pm at Tern Hill.
The event is not for profit and all the money raised will be split between the Army Benevolent Fund, The Royal Irish Benevolent Fund and Stop Hunger.
Last year there was entertainment all afternoon including a military tug of war, an iron ranger competition, performances by the Royal Irish Youth Club Band and dance club plus live music.
In addition, there was a funfair, military and emergency service stands and inflatables. Organisers hope to put on a similar event this year.
This year’s musical acts include The Paprika Blues Band, Kickstones, a Taylor Swift tribute act and Ed Sheeran tribute act.
Captain Brett Eddas, the unit welfare officer, said: “The acts are booked and there are some amazing tribute acts and fantastic frill rides. Please buy early to get the discount..
“Let’s try and get a complete sell out this year.
“Remember every penny taken goes back to the event and anything else donated to charity.
“We are a total not for profit event.”
The free fun fair and inflatable’s will be available from 1.30pm until 5.30pm.
Advance tickets are now on sale for £7.50 for four to 10 year olds and £10 for 11 years and over.
In addition, with the first 100 tickets getting a £2.50 discount. Tickets on the day will be £15, if still available.
Organisers say tickets are limited and will sell out fast and they are expecting the event to sell out.
