Newhampton show for Brix & co
They are a post-punk supergroup of sorts, and Brix & the Extricated will be hoping to cause a ruckus in a city this week.
The Mancunians, who used to make up The Fall in days gone by, are slamming into action at Wolverhampton's Newhampton Arts Centre on Wednesday.
Brix arrived in The Fall in the 80s and had two spells in the group that redefined their sound and took it chartward - as well as bringing a touch of LA glamour to the band’s Salford mean streets look.
But while they are proud of their roots, this is a new group with new songs and a new sound, who are writing their own history.
Their debut album Part 2 arrived earlier this year and looked to mix the raw power of the Stooges and the pop sensibility of Blondie with psychedelia.
“It’s not as polarising as the Fall,” said Brix. “Yes, there are dark, hypnotic grooves, but there are rays of sunshine.”
