Adverts used to be something that we felt forced to watch - now, we spend weeks talking about them ahead of their arrival on television.
Christmas adverts are as eagerly anticipated as the latest blockbuster films - with some boasting the same amount of attention to details and riveting plots.

From star-studded parties to monster magic, sing-alongs to celebrating Christmas traditions, we take a look at the top Christmas adverts on our screens right now:

John Lewis
A young boy and his imaginary monster under the bed are the stars of this year’s eagerly anticipated John Lewis Christmas campaign.
The two-minute tale of friendship that develops between saucer-eyed Moz the Monster and his seven-year-old host Joe is set to a cover of The Beatles song Golden Slumbers by Manchester band Elbow for what has become a fixture in the build-up to Christmas.
It was directed by Michel Gondry, who won an Oscar as a writer of the film Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind and helmed the 1996 Levi’s “Drugstore” commercial as well as music videos for Bjork, the White Stripes and the Rolling Stones.
Sainsburys
Roasties, showing off presents and terrible Christmas jumpers - Sainsbury's cover them all in their sing-along Christmas advert.
The advert is called Every Bit Of Christmas, and celebrates the many ways that Brits spend the festive season.
The campaign centres around a sing-along song written by Ben Smith - otherwise known as Doc Borwn - and composed by Mikis Michaelide.
Every Bit Of Christmas also features cameos from The Royle Family's Ricky Tomlinson and The Muppets' very own Kermit The Frog.
Peacocks
Peacocks have got together some of the nation's favourite X Factor stars for their festive advert.
Honey G, Jedward, Sam Bailey and Wagner feature in the short advert that sees the stars unwrapping presents, emptying stockings and dancing the night away.
The advert feature a bespoke Christmas song and a dance routine, featuring all five contestants.
Debenhams
Split into two parts, Debenhams have created a modern Cinderella story.
The ad tells the tale of a young woman who loses her shoe on a crowded train and the handsome stranger who finds it.
It follows the quest of re-uniting the lost slipper with the heroine and a number of near misses that take place along the way.
The advert sees a cameo appearance from Ewan McGregor, who aids the fairytale ending.
Lidl
Lidl have bucked the trend of cinematic adverts by releasing a series of short clips focusing on a different character each time.
The characters include the Cavalier Carver, the Mince Pie Maverick, the Double Dipper, the Visiting Vegetarian, a Cheeseboard Champion, a Tipple Technician and a Pudding Perfectionist.
The adverts show off the broad range of products the supermarket has to offer, as well as being comical.
Argos
In a modern and magical installment - Argos take us on a journey to Santa's workshop.
The minute-long offering called Ready for Take-off, shows the retailer flaunting its commitment to speedy delivery and its Fast Track delivery service - with a heap of festive flair.
The advert is set in a magical distribution centre, where a team of elves can be seen scrambling to get toys out to children in time for Christmas.
Toys’R’Us
Toys'R'Us join forces with Santa himself to bring joy to children across the land.
In Toys'R'Us' advert, we see Santa visit the store on his sleigh, with the story told using Pixar-esque animation.
Unfortunately, his reindeer are distracted by all the wondrous toys on offer at the toy superstar.
Luckily, Geoffrey the Giraffe is on hand to step up and help Father Christmas complete his task.
Aldi
Kevin the carrot is back - and this time he's in love.
Aldi’s new advert picks up with Kevin where we saw him last, as a snowman’s nose.
He quickly becomes dislodged by the rumbling of an approaching train, and spots Katie the carrot.
After saving Katie from an oncoming pea - the couple live heart-warmingly happily ever after.
Asda
Asda have created a magical Christmas workshop - the Imaginarium - for their 2017 Christmas advert.
The commercial follows a grandfather and granddaughter as they explore the supermarket's imaginary magical world, filled with surprises.
Gin lasers, living Christmas cookbooks, reindeer-powered Christmas pudding machines and more - the wondrous Imaginarium highlights the imaginative ways in which Asda is working to provide the best Christmas ever for customers.
M&S
Building on the excitement for the blockbuster film, M&S have teamed up with the loveable bear for a Christmas adventure.
The advert sees Paddington come across a mysterious burglar, dressed in red and toting a sack of stolen presents, who he mistakes for Father Christmas on the roof of his house.
Paddington then offers to help the unlikely 'Father Christmas' deliver his presents - with the thief eventually seeing the error of his ways, and receiving one of Paddington's famous marmalade sandwiches.
TK Maxx
Voice by Bill Nighy, Aldi's Christmas advert celebrates the wonder of a white Christmas.
The the advert, the white Christmas comes to life as a grandfather gifts his granddaughter a snow globe.
TK Maxx snow experts arrive to transform their house into a winder wonderland - aided by a helicopter and snow bazookas.
The advert is soundtracked by a festive version of pop-rock band Pilot's 1975 hit, Magic.
House Of Fraser
There are a series of events at Christmas that you remember vividly as a child - events that House of Fraser explore in their Christmas advert.
The campaign centres on two sisters, shown as children in the 1980s and in the modern day.
Viewers are shown the sisters celebrating Christmas together as children, and how their family traditions with their own kids have lived on in 2017.
Currys PC World
Merry Techmas! Currys PC World have used their Christmas advert this year to explore how the retailer helps customers get the right gift.
Humorous family scenarios are used bring to life the difficulties in choosing the right Christmas gifts - featuring recommendations from store colleagues.
The advert showcases a real initiative by the retailer which allows store colleagues to try out products for themselves at home - so that they can give truly personal, first-hand advice to shoppers.
Tesco

From barbecuing to basting, surrounded by family fun to stressful changes in plan - Tesco explore the many different ways in which families prepare the festive favourite.
This advert is the first of five which aims to celebrate the different ways UK shoppers enjoy Christmas, and how great food sits at the heart of it all.
Waitrose
Waitrose celebrate the comforting family Christmas together in their advert entitled Snowed In.
The black and white flick begins with a family struggling through a harsh blizzard into their local pub.
The snowstorm forces the strangers to rally together and unexpectedly share Christmas lunch - with heart-warming consequences.
The advert was created by agency adam&eveDDB, the same company behind John Lewis's Moz the Monster.
Morrisons
Morrisons' Christmas advert highlights their Free From range in a sweet and family-oriented fashion.
The advert begins with a family meeting a real-life reindeer - but their young daughter is nervous, until she is encouraged by her older brother.
She continues to look up to her brother for inspiration - through her school nativity and placing the star decoration on-top of their Christmas tree.
The advert ends with them tucking into some gluten free desserts - with the young girl receiving some final encouragement from her trusty older brother.
