Sir Ken Dodd: Midland fans and venues pay tribute to comedy icon - plus gallery of the star in appearances across the region

Tributes have poured in across the Midlands for comedy icon Sir Ken Dodd following his death.

The Liverpool star died aged 90 yesterday.

Sir Ken was renowned for his regular Midland shows, which would see the comedian perform for hours regardless of his age.

His last show in Wolverhampton was at the Wulfrun Hall on December 20.

He had been due to play the city centre's Grand Theatre on March 18, but had to postpone the show due to his poor health.

Sir Ken died just two days after getting married. His wife was at his bedside.

The stand-up star left hospital on February 27 at the end of a six-week stay for a chest infection.
