Dippy in Birmingham: Fans advised to book free tickets in advance ahead of eagerly-anticipated museum exhibition
Fans wishing to snap up free tickets to see the iconic dinosaur skeleton cast Dippy in Birmingham are being warned to book in advance.
The famous Diplodocus bones and well-known Natural History Museum attraction will arrive at Birmingham Museum in May, with free tickets now available to book.
Those planning to see the attraction are being advised to book tickets sooner rather than later in order to secure the chance to see the highly-anticipated exhibition.
Dippy is a 292-piece skeleton cast that first delighted visitors in 1905, when he arrived in London for Dippy on Tour: A Natural History Adventure.
The skeleton will be a part of a new spectacle at the Chamberlain Square attraction, that will explore how dinosaurs evolved into birds.
As well as getting the chance to see Dippy, visitors will also be able to see a velociraptor cast, a cast of a dinosaur nest and a real Great Auk, a bird which became extinct the mid-19th century.
Gurminder Kenth, museum manager at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, said: “We are incredibly excited to welcome Dippy to Birmingham.
"The famous dinosaur has the ability to wow and inspire everyone from toddlers to grandparents, and it’s going to be an exciting time at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.
“Anticipation is building so don’t miss out on the chance to get free tickets.
"Not only will you see Dippy, but also experience an eye opening exhibition which allows us to showcase Birmingham’s natural history collection and inspire scientists of the future.”
A programme of events is set to accompany Dippy's stay in Birmingham, such as a Dino Dig, curator tours, craft workshops, and a screening of hit 2006 film Night at the Museum.
Dippy on Tour: A Natural History Adventure comes to Birmingham Museum from May 26 to September 9.
