Tubs the white tiger died after a short illness

The Bewdley-based park announced the death of big cat, named Tubs, on Thursday, September 3.

Tubs was born and raised at the Safari Park and was more than 16 years old at the time of her death.

The impressive animal was recognisable to members of the public on the drive-through safari at the attraction by her short, stubby tail – which she lost as a young cub while play-fighting with her brother.

Tubs and her twin brother, Scrap, were born at the West Midland Safari Park on May 25, 2004. Their parents were Tikva and Tahas who arrived at the Safari Park from Parken Zoo, Eskilstuna.

Angela Potter, head of wildlife, said: "Tubs will be sadly missed by our wildlife team and our many guests who have watched her grow and thrive throughout the years here at West Midland Safari Park.

"We will especially miss her friendly greetings at the tiger house each morning.

"We have been inundated with well wishes from our guests over the past few days, and we’d like to thank them for their support and for sharing such lovely photos of Tubs over the years.”

Announcing Tubs’ death on social media, West Midland Safari Park said: “It is with great sadness that we share the news that, after a short illness, our white tiger Tubs has passed away. She was over 16 years old and was born here at the Safari Park all those years ago.

"Many guests may have recognised her on the safari, as she had a distinctive short, stubby tail, which she lost as a very young cub after play-fighting with her brother.

“She will be missed greatly by all those who have worked with her.”

West Midland Safari Park is encouraging anyone with photographs of Tubs to share them on social media.
