Alton Towers' gardens to reopen next month ahead of theme park in April
Alton Towers Resort has confirmed it will reopen its gardens to visitors next month ahead of its theme park opening in April.
The popular attraction in Staffordshire will allow people in to enjoy The Alton Towers Gardens from March 29.
The historical gardens will be open each day until April 11 – before the theme park can officially open a day later.
Self-contained accommodation at the site will also be allowed on April 12 in line with Government guidance.
The Alton Towers Gardens are situated at the heart of the theme park and offers a spot for families to enjoy.
It was largely laid over 150 years ago b Charles Talbot, 15th Earl of Shrewsbury and proprietor of Alton Towers.
Restrictions will be enforced on the number of guests able to visit each day to ensure social distancing is maintained.
A number of small indoor attractions will remain temporary closed and a string of measures will be put in place.
People will be asked to pre-book and wear face coverings and will be asked to have their temperature checked on entry.
Distance markers have been put in place, PPE will be worn by staff and cleaning has been stepped up amid the virus.
Bosses at the resort hope to have a "fantastic" line-up of live entertainment, celebrations and festivities thorough the year.
It is anticipated the site's latest attraction, Gangsta Granny: The Ride, will open in the Spring following the reopening.
The ride brings to life David Walliams' most popular children's novel – and will see people join the main characters as they attempt to steal the Crown Jewels.
