Oswestry shoppers get a ringside seat as the circus comes to town
There were smiles on the face of shoppers in Oswestry at the weekend, as the circus rolled into the town centre.
Hundreds gathered ringside at Bailey Head on Saturday as jugglers, clowns, acrobats and a host of other entertainers from the Yellow Bus Events team enthralled the crowds.
The street circus is part of a range of events organised by the Oswestry Business Improvement District (BID).
The free event, which was paid for by the BID - a levy paid by traders in the town - saw hoola hoop artists, an alternative Elton John (Elton Wrong) who hurtled down Bailey Street on a white piano, a shopping trolley dance troupe, jugglers, and a host of others that stopped shoppers in their tracks.
The circus, was in town from 11am to 4pm.
Adele Nightingale from the Business Improvement District said: "It was such a great day in Oswestry at the Street Circus. The town was absolutely buzzing."
"Huge thanks to Scott and the Yellow Bus Events team and the amazing performers. Also to all the local businesses and a special thank you to each and every one of you who came along and enjoyed the show."
The street circus has become an annual visitor to Oswestry as part of BID's aim to improve footfall in the town centre and encourage people to visit Oswestry and use the shops pubs and cafes.
Last summer a man made beach was created in Festival Square. The same venue became a Halloween pop up in October and at Christmas it was transformed into an ice rink.
Both helped bring visitors to the town.
Later in the year Oswestry BID is contributing to the Oswestry Balloon Festival.
The event, in August, attractions thousands of people to the town.
