Thrills as Much Wenlock holds first soap box derby - in video and pictures
There was a need for speed at Much Wenlock 's first ever soap box derby.
Racers young and old buckled up for the Much Wenlock event, organised by Cuan Wildlife Rescue.
It took place at The Edge Adventure Centre, Newtown House Farm, on Sunday.
After hours of hard work creating the homemade vehicles, dozens carted downhill at the centre in hope of winning the all important trophy and £50 prize.
Competitors travelled from across the county to take part in the event, which helped support Cuan Wildlife Rescue.
Although the final amount has not yet been counted, more than £4,800 was raised through entry fees, as thousands flocked through the gates.
Hannah Pusey-Hill, community fundraiser for Cuan Wildlife Rescue, said: "It was amazing. You wouldn't believe the amount of people that turned up.
"There were thousands. It was our first event so we didn't know what to expect but it was awesome, it really was.
"The camaraderie, carts and costumes were absolutely fantastic. We had the climbing wall, segways and sniper shooting, which were all popular too.
"We're hoping it is going to be an annual event. It's a great thing to bring the community. together. We had people coming from Wales, we just didn't expect the amount that came.
"There were a few quibbles with some people with parking but the general consensus was it was an amazing day and everyone enjoyed themselves.
"It's a learning curve and will sort them out any problems for next year."
