Dan Owen of Shrewsbury is a popular singer who is preparing to perform at this year's Rock and Bowl Festival, Market Drayton's 10th independent music festival, and he will be immortalised in the form of a new ale this summer by the town's brewery Joule's.

Dan has performed in the town in the past, putting on shows at the Sandbrook Vaults among other venues, but he has since reached new heights of fame with popularity online and across the world.

The new beer will be named after one of the songs from his upcoming album, and is still in development before it is available to try this summer.

Laurence Payne of the Sandbrook Vaults said: "Dan is a talented, popular local lad and Joule's want to support him.

"We are hoping it will help more people find out about his album, because he is a really special talent."

Dan's new album Stay Awake With me is due to release in August, and some of the singles have already received airplay and rave reviews.

Icarus is one of those tracks, having been played multiple times on BBC Radio 2.

It is also one of the contenders for the name of the ale to be named in Dan's honour, although a final decision has yet to be made.

The 25-year-old will return to Market Drayton for Rock and Bowl in April, before headlining a gig in London in May.
