Musicians from chart stars Ocean Colour Scene have been added to the bill of a rock festival planned for Shrewsbury in September.

OCS singer Simon Fowler and drummer Oscar Harrison, who have enjoyed a series of huge hits, will play Shrewsbury Fields Forever which will run at the West Mid Showground from September 14 to 16.

They will line up alongside headliners The Wombats, R'n'B legend Ms Dynamite and local heroes the Sunshine Underground, who hail from Shrewsbury and Telford, in addition to icons Utah Saints.

Mr Fowler and Mr Harrison will play an acoustic set at the event, which is set to attract around 10,000 fans.

Mr Fowler said he was looking forward to the gig and said recent acoustic shows had been 'a real tonic – a great chance to look the audience in the eye and interact with them on a more personal basis than ever before'.

OCS formed in Moseley and have enjoyed a glittering career with five top 10 albums and six top 10 singles. They played alongside massive international stars like Paul Weller and Oasis and were Britpop darlings.

Among the band's greatest hits were their second, critically-acclaimed album Moseley Shoals, which was released in 1995 to critical acclaim, reaching number two in the UK Album charts.
