Work already under way towards V Festival 2013
Work has started on the 2013 V Festival – as organisers of this year's event return the Weston Park showground to its previous condition.
Police, firefighters, media staff and traffic engineers want to make sure festivalgoers can enjoy next year's event in safety. This year's festival ended with a dazzling pyrotechnic display for the 85,000-strong crowd and thousands of on-site workers. More than 100 acts performed over the weekend.
Fire service chiefs said they were pleased that the event had run smoothly, with only isolated incidents, including some bin fires, during Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Mick Jahn, who serves as the fire station manager for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: "Given that there were over 90,000 people at the event, there was a very small number of incidents.
"Firefighters have dealt with no injuries.
"Firefighters and officers worked on rotation over the three days, providing on site response to incidents.
"The event as a whole went well and there was an excellent working relationship with the festival promoters and other agencies," he added.
Staffordshire Police reported low levels of crime and Superintendent Dave Holdway, one of the event commanders, said: "Once again months of extensive planning and close working with all agencies have worked extremely well to ensure a safe and low-crime environment.
"With 90,000 people on site each day, crime levels were extremely low."
Traffic problems were kept to a minimum and the V Festival Traffic and Parking Manager Mike Rodgers said: "On Friday local routes around Weston Park were running clear by lunchtime.
"Over the weekend disruptions to the local road network were kept to a minimum."
Councillor Kath Perry, chairwoman of the licensing committee for South Staffordshire District Council, said: "The festival as a whole has a very positive effect on the local community.
The organisers work hard every year to minimise any inconvenience the festival may cause to the residents in and around the local area."
Dawn Woodhouse, V Festival Organiser, said: "We have a multi agency approach and work closely with all the above agencies to host V Festival and we look forward to planning 2013 with them all."
