It wasn’t ghosts, vampires or witches that gave these kids a scare, but a sudden nearby lightning strike.

Brandon Sullivan’s Nest smart doorbell captured on camera the moment when lightning struck in Austin, Texas, sending youngsters running for cover.

The video quickly racked up more than 20,000 views online, with one moment in particular striking a chord with Twitter users.

Bad weather hit much of Austin for the evening of Halloween as forecast storms arrived in earnest in the city.
