Organisers of a music festival in Shropshire are expecting 6,000 revellers this summer as the event marks its third anniversary. Osfest will be staged over the Queen's Diamond Jubilee weekend.

Acts including Razor-light, Dappy and Hard-fi will appear at the Park Hall Showground near Oswestry for the event between June 1 and 4.

The event is also hosting the first Shropshire Proms with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.

Carly Jackson, from Osfest, said the music festival was proud to be associated with the Shropshire Proms and said it would be wonderful to see a 50-piece orchestra on the main Osfest stage.

She added that last year the festival attracted 4,500 people.

"This year we are aiming for 6,000 and we are confident we will hit that figure," she said.

"We want to get across the message that Osfest is not just for young people but for everyone who likes music," she added.

"This year festival-goers will even have an extra day off – the Tuesday Bank Holiday – to recover."

The Proms on June 1 will raise funds for Hope House Hospice and the Midlands Air Ambulance.

And Shropshire Council leader Keith Barrow, the Proms could become an annual event.
