Pop superstar Jessie J's Shrewsbury concert is on course to sell out today – with almost 8,000 tickets already sold over just two days.

The singer, who celebrated her 24th birthday yesterday, will be playing in the Quarry on July 6 in front of an expected crowd of 10,000 – the biggest gig ever staged there.

Promoters today confirmed sales were close to the 8,000 mark, and predicted a sell-out in record time. Tickets, at £32.50 for adults and £20 for children, went on sale on Monday, with about £140,000-worth sold by noon yesterday.
