All 10,000 tickets for Jessie J's massive outdoor concert in Shrewsbury have sold – but organisers have released another 1,000 to satisfy demand.

The pop superstar will be playing in the Quarry on July 6, and concert promoters have now made the decision to extend the capacity for the show to 11,000 following massive demand for tickets.

A further 1,000 tickets have been provided to Theatre Severn to sell on after the Shrewsbury venue shifted its 8,000 allocation, with another 2,000 sold online and via concert promoter KAL Music.

Keith Louch, from the promotion company, said it had been agreed with Shrewsbury Town Council that the amount of people able to go into the show could be increased.

"We have given Theatre Severn another 1,000 and capacity is now 11,000," he said. "Today is the last day of sales."

Mr Louch said a larger area at the front of the show would be allocated as standing only to create more space at the site.

"Because the large number of children coming and very few groups of people which we normally have, there won't be the same amount of space used up," he said.

"We are going to have a bigger standing area at the front,"

About a third of the tickets sold so far have been for under-16s, with the majority of buyers based in Shrewsbury and Telford.
