Bosses at The Buttermarket today confirmed that X Factor stars Ella Henderson and Rylan Clark will be appearing at the Howard Street venue in separate performances during the festive season.

It comes less than 48 hours after it was announced ahead of schedule that fellow X Factor stars Union J, who just missed out on a place in this weekend's grand final, will be appearing at the club on December 27 in their first official show date.

Rylan, 23, the most controversial contestant on this year's show, will appear at on December 22, with a set to include the infamous Spice Girls medley which he performed on the show.

And 16-year-old Ella, who was tipped to win by judges and bookmakers before being eliminated in a shock public vote, will perform in Shrewsbury on January 5.

Martin Monahan, owner of The Buttermarket, which recently underwent a £2 million refurbishment, said they had been overwhelmed by the response to Union J's gig.

He said: "We are delighted to have secured these exclusive gigs, especially with them performing ahead of the X Factor Arena tours.

"There's so much excitement surrounding these performances – they are going to be massive events.

"I've never known anything like it – we were completely inundated yesterday with people clamouring for Union J tickets.

"It's clearly a massive coup for Shropshire and The Buttermarket."

A VIP balcony area has been set aside for 12 to 15 year olds, accompanied by an adult, for the Union J concert from 8pm until 1am.
