Union J's Shrewsbury Buttermarket date is still on

Shrewsbury nightclub bosses today reassured Union J fans that next week's gig will go ahead.

It comes after band member George Shelley was hospitalised after 'a nasty accident' which has meant Union J has postponed a host of Irish tour dates this week while he recovers.

The owner of The Buttermarket Martin Monahan said the Shropshire music venue had been 'inundated' by worried fans checking whether the gig is still on.

He said: "We've had loads of fans – a lot of them hysterical – asking whether the Shropshire performance is still going ahead and I've just had management confirm that everything will be happening as planned.

"No one really knows for certain what has happened to George but I'm told it is not a long-term thing and our county gig will be unaffected."

The Howard Street club will play host to the X Factor boyband sensation on January 11, from 9pm.
