The Brit Award-winning boyband, who have sold more than 10 million records worldwide, will play to an expected sell-out crowd of nearly 1,000 at the Buttermarket nightclub in Shrewsbury on April 6.

The four-piece – Aston Merrygold, Oritsé Williams, J.B Gill and Marvin Humes – will appear in the town ahead of a massive arena tour around the UK this December.

Full details of the band's appearance are still being finalised, with tickets due to go on sale early next week.

The intimate appearance has been described as a 'massive coup' by bosses at the nightclub on Howard Street.

Buttermarket owner Martin Monahan said: "We're absolutely ecstatic that JLS will be coming to Shropshire for the very first time, and it's a massive coup for the county.

"They're four great lads and I couldn't be more thrilled. It's a great opportunity for fans to see them up close without having to travel miles."

JLS have notched up sales of 10 million worldwide and recently released their fourth studio album 'Evolution'. The band, who got their big break on ITV talent show X Factor in 2008, has had five number one singles including Beat Again and Everybody in Love.

Their appearance in Shrewsbury will raise cash for the band's charity, the JLS Foundation in partnership with Cancer Research UK, which has been formed to help cancers affecting children, teenagers and young adults.

The Buttermarket reopened 12 months ago following a £2 million refurbishment. Over the past few weeks, it has welcomed a host of X Factor contestants including two gigs by last year's show winner James Arthur.
