Union J greeted by screaming fans at Shrewsbury Buttermarket gig

X Factor boy band Union J were greeted by hundreds of screaming fans as the group returned to Shropshire for their third gig in three months.

The singers, who came fourth in last year's ITV talent show, took to the stage at the Buttermarket nightclub in Shrewsbury last night.

The foursome – JJ, Josh, George and Jaymi – performed a set including songs they covered during their X Factor appearance.

It was boy band's third visit to Shropshire having previously played at the Buttermarket in December and January. They were supported by Bishop's Castle band Thin Vision, rapper Leo

Golden Child and up-and-coming singer Tich. Following their performance Union J took part in a meet and greet with fans.

Speaking on the social networking site Twitter after the gig, band member Josh said: "Thank you so much Buttermarket, Shrewsbury, had a great time tonight. Your support is incredible."

Meanwhile, fellow band member George added: "Shrewsbury you were the best tonight. Love seeing you all."

The past few months has seen Shropshire gripped by X Factor fever as a string of former contestants have taken to the stage at the Buttermarket nightclub.

They included this year's show winner James Arthur, runner up Jahmene Douglas as well as pop groups District 3 and MK1.

And X Factor singer Lucy Spraggan will be the next contestant to perform at the Howard Street venue on Saturday night.

The singer, who was forced to drop out of last year's ITV talent show due to illness, will be supported by singer Max Milner, who appeared on BBC One's The Voice as well as Shropshire band The Taste.
