Mr Jones is hoping to find out whether the disc, left behind after he helped Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor move out of Beckbury, is worth its weight in gold.

"I've been trying to get it valued," said Mr Jones, 49, who has lived in Beckbury, near Shifnal, all his life.

"I helped him move and he gave it to me. He moved to Claverley but I lost track of him after that."

The gold disc was presented to Taylor for his 1985 cover of the T-Rex classic Get It On (Bang A Gong) by Power Station, a rock supergroup fronted by Robert Palmer.

Mr Jones helped Andy, his wife Tracey and in-laws Reg and Maureen move out about 15 years ago.

The disc is on the wall of Mr Jones' house in the village. He said Taylor and his family sometimes socialised in the Seven Stars pub.
