Rock quartets The Making and M.A.D.I.S.O.N were chosen to play in front of 6,000 people in Telford Town Park on September 7.

The bands received the call after impressing the audience and judges at a competition at Oakengates Theatre on Friday.

Eight bands battled it out for the prize at the Band Slam event.

The Making and M.A.D.I.S.O.N said they were excited about being the warm-up acts for McFly, who have sold 10 million albums worldwide.

The Making, based in Newport, is made up of Dan Oakey, 17, lead vocals and guitar, Matt Pownall, 16, guitar, Tom Lowe,17, drums, and Scott Ridgway, 17, bass.

The four met while at Burton Borough School and have played 44 gigs in the last year – but T-Live will be the biggest by far.

Dan said: "It is fantastic news for us and we're really looking forward to playing in front of a large, captivated audience."

Telford-based M.A.D.I.S.O.N, meanwhile, is made up of Dan Steel, 25, lead singer and acoustic guitar, Dave Sylva, 23, lead guitar, Aaron Collyer, 21, bass, and Jenny Ford, 29, drums.

The band, which cites Fleetwood Mac as an influence, has played more than 100 gigs – but said performing in Telford would be special.
