It is the concert that never was – much to the disappointment of thousands of fans who were looking forward to seeing their idol Peter Andre in Telford.

The Australian singer's website today clearly states that he is performing on September 27 at The International Centre, Telford.

But no concert is planned – and the venue has been inundated with complaints from fans upset that they cannot buy tickets.

The confusion appears to have come from an over-eager promoter for the Mysterious Girl singer, who had been in talks with the TIC and put up details on his website before actually securing a deal to hold the concert.

Tom Gray, chief executive of Southwater Event Group, said: "We have never had an official booking in our diary for a Peter Andre concert to be held at The International Centre. We have been in discussions with a promoter who has made inquiries, but nothing has been confirmed."

Telford fans today tweeted their disappointment to the chart topper. Amy Marie Bailey said: "@MrPeterAndre Why did you cancel your concert in Telford on September 27. I was so upset finding out you had." Another added: "I called last week as wanted to go, gutted as appears date never confirmed."

The reality TV star is managed by Can Associates, which was unavailable today for comment. Earlier this month the singer announced he is expecting a baby with girlfriend Emily MacDonagh, 23.
